Overview

The Minneapolis zoning code is the primary tool the City uses to:

  • Regulate land uses
  • Put the policies of the comprehensive plan into action

The zoning code changes over time for many reasons, including the need to:

  • Follow state laws or other agency rules
  • Align with the City's adopted plans
  • Adapt to market and development changes
  • Make city rules and processes easier to understand and use
