If you need a disability parking or transfer zone in front of your residence or business, you can apply to have signs installed.
Disability zones are not exclusive
If we install signs for a disability parking or transfer zone in front of your residence or business, anyone with disability plates or a certificate can park or transfer in the zone. It will not be exclusive to you or any other person.
Parking zones and transfer zones are different
The application form is the same for both zones, but parking and transfer zones are not the same.
- Disability parking zone – Anyone with disability license plates or a certificate can park in the space.
- Disability transfer zone – Can be used to drop off or pick up a disabled person and load or unload their equipment or personal items. No one can park in the space, whether or not they have disability plates or a certificate. See Code of Ordinance 478.840
