Workers' Compensation Policy

An employee injured on the job must complete the online report as soon as possible after the injury.

Applies to

All Mayor and City Council departments
Independent boards and commissions may elect to participate with City’s Workers’ Compensation self insurance program or purchase Workers’ Compensation Insurance commercially.
Minnesota Statute 176 applies to all employers providing Workers’ Compensation insurance within the state of Minnesota.

The City has followed Workers' Compensation statute since its creation by the State of Minnesota.

A City of Minneapolis employee injured on the job must complete the online report as soon as possible after the injury.
If an employee is unable to complete the form, the employee’s supervisor must complete it.
The information is sent to Risk Management where Workers’ Compensation Claim Coordinators:
- Review the claim and make a determination whether to accept or deny based upon available information.
- Notify the State of Minnesota of the claim, as mandated by statute.
