Aurin is proud to call the Hiawatha neighborhood home, being within walking distance of transit, bikeway, and her favorite pizza spot in Minneapolis, Parkway Pizza. She is a proud daughter of working-class Bengali-American immigrants who made south Minneapolis their home and built deep and long lasting relationships with many neighbors whom are now friends. Aurin has always been a hometowner, attending Minneapolis Public Schools and even chose to stay close to her community when she selected to attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where she received her Bachelor’s degree.
Aurin has an extensive background in policy work from municipal to state governments and nearly a decade of experience in grassroots organizing and coalition building; which has helped develop relationships at all levels of government. Aside from people-centered policy making, her dedication and experience with constituent services has set her apart. Aurin managed constituent services in the State Senate office of Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic in 2019, and was able to demonstrate her agility and adaptability in her continued work leading constituent services for former Minneapolis City Council Member Steve Fletcher in Ward 3, and Council Member Jason Chavez in Ward 9.
Her policy work is far reaching but focused on creating a safer and more vibrant city; the City’s Inclusionary Zoning ordinance, the allocation of over $700,000 of American Rescue Plan funds to businesses on Cultural Corridors impacted by COVID-19, the Minneapolis Wage Theft ordinance, and the expansion of the Community Safety Specialist program, to name a few.
