Robin grew up in the Southside of Chicago and attended Carleton College, then completed a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship where she researched effective reintegration and reentry programs and policies for recently released women. Robin moved to Minneapolis in 2014. She earned a Mini MBA in Nonprofit Management from St. Thomas University in 2015. In 2018, Robin began her PhD program in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Minnesota.

Robin's career has included the University of Minnesota's Women's Center, the YMCA, the Sexual Violence Center, and Alliance Housing Inc. Robin was proud to work with 15 Now Minnesota to pass a $15 minimum wage in Minneapolis, the first such policy in the Midwest. Immediately prior to running for City Council, Robin worked as with Education Minnesota (Ed MN), which represents over 87,000 educators across the state on initiatives that preserve and expand funding for K-12 public education and make our public schools more inclusive and equitable.

Robin has been involved in racial and economic justice organizing since the Minneapolis Police Department's murder of Jamar Clark in 2015. She has been a leader in a broad array of grassroots campaigns including efforts to increase community oversight and accountability over MPD, to block anti-protest legislation, to distribute food and mutual aid during the 2020 Uprising, to block the relocation of the 3^rd Precinct in the fall of 2020, and to pass the 2021 People's Budget. Robin is certified in Restorative Justice practices, such as Circle Keeping and Community Conferencing, and served on the board of directors for the Restorative Justice Community Action Network (RJCA).

During her first term representing Ward 2, Robin led policy initiatives to pass a $15 minimum wage and workers' rights protections for Uber and Lyft drivers, win historic investments in public housing, protect renters who sign pre-leases, advance city-led sidewalk plowing, expand the city's comprehensive public safety system beyond policing, and improve equity and transparency within city government. Robin currently serves as the Chair of the Administration and Enterprise Oversight (AEO) Committee, and as Vice Chair of the Public Health and Safety (PHS) Committee, and is a member of the Budget Committee, Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) Committee, and Committee of the Whole (COW)
