Assault Unit

Our goal is to reduce violence in Minneapolis

  • We investigate cases involving violent attacks that do not result in a victim's death

Robbery Unit

We work to find and target robbery patterns

  • We respond to and investigate business and personal robberies

Violent Crimes Investigations Team

Our goal is to reduce gun violence in Minneapolis

  • We investigate and find patterns in shooting cases
  • We work to find and prevent retaliatory shootings

Homicide Unit

Our goal is to reduce homicides by increasing the number of arrests and prosecutions

We investigate crimes, including:

  • Crimes of murder
  • Non-parental kidnappings
  • Fatal hit and run vehicle accidents
  • Any death within the city limits
  • "Cold cases" with the FBI

We review deaths reported to the police, including:

  • Suicides
  • Attempted suicides
  • Non-vehicular accidents
  • Drug overdoses
