Project purpose
This project is intended to improve the right-of-way for all users and modes of travel. The road was built between 1962 and 1977. It is beyond its expected useful life. Even though there have been some small temporary fixes to the pavement in the past, the road is still not in good condition according to the City's rating system. This project will help fix the road and make it better by adding things like:
- ADA compliant curb ramps
- green areas with trees
- address sidewalk obstructions
- add bump outs
- and implement bicycle facilities
Right now, about 240 people walk, 190 people bike, and between 7,100 and 11,300 people drive on this road every day. The city wants to make this road safer and reduce the number of crashes that cause severe injuries and deaths, as part of their Vision Zero plan.
