Cedar Ave at Nokomis Pkwy and Edgewater Blvd
Pilot project update
The pilot has been well received so we are leaving it in place until the next public meeting:
- Thursday, January 25th, from 7-8:30 PM, at Nokomis Community Center gym, 2401 E. Minnehaha Parkway.
Project overview
Minneapolis Public Works, Minneapolis Park Board, and Hennepin County plan to improve the intersection of Cedar Ave at Lake Nokomis Pkwy and Edgewater Blvd in South Minneapolis. The goal is to reduce vehicle travel speeds and increase safety for all users. These short term improvements will be installed in summer 2023:
- Close median at Edgewater Blvd - right in, right out - for a 6 week evaluation period
- Install bollard median on the north leg of Cedar Ave/Lake Nokomis Pkwy intersection
- Convert the two northbound through lanes to one through and one left turn lane
- Install northbound left turn lane arrow
- Install eastbound right turn arrow
- Improve traffic signal visibility
- Collect before and after data
The groups in charge of the project will share the survey results at a community meeting on January 25, 2024.
