With Election Day just a couple weeks away, the Early Vote Center is extending its hours. Anyone who can vote in Minneapolis on Election Day can vote early at the Early Vote Center, 980 E. Hennepin Ave.
From now through the Sunday, Oct. 29 the Early Vote Center’s hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Next week, the center’s weekday hours increase to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The center’s last day of service is Monday, Nov. 6, which is the day before Election Day, and hours Nov. 6 are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Also, voters at the Early Vote Center can now place their ballot directly into the tabulator without needing to complete a series of envelopes, just like the process on Election Day.
Request mail-in ballot by tomorrow
If planning to vote by mail, the City recommends applying for a mail ballot no later than tomorrow, Oct. 24, so there’s enough time to receive it, complete it and then mail it back in time to be counted on Election Day. Go to vote.minneapolismn.gov/voters/vote-by-mail to apply.
Return your mail ballot
Many Minneapolis voters have received a mail-in ballot but have not yet returned it. After Oct. 31, the City recommends returning mail ballots in person to avoid a late delivery. Ballots can be dropped off during regular business hours at Minneapolis Election & Voter Services, 980 E. Hennepin Ave.
Preparing for Election Day
Everyone planning to cast their ballots on Election Day, Nov. 7, should do the following:
- Check your polling place location at pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us.
- Check the status of your registration at the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website. If you need to update your registration, review what you will need to bring as proof of residence when you vote.
- Look at a sample ballot ahead of time; even bring it to refer to when you go to vote. Find your sample ballot at vote.minneapolismn.gov/voters/ballot.
