The Board of Estimate and Taxation is holding a public hearing 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 to consider setting the maximum property tax levy for 2024.
The Board of Estimate and Taxation will adopt the maximum levy for 2024 later this month. The Board of Estimate and Taxation sets the maximum tax levies for the City, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and Minneapolis Public Housing Authority.
The proposed 2024 budget is $1.8 billion with a proposed tax levy of 6.2%. The City Council has started reviewing the 2024 budget – the second year of the biennial budget cycle – and will adopt the budget in December. The City Council will hold public hearings on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, along with a Truth in Taxation public hearing before the final budget adoption Dec. 5.
