City and police federation reach tentative contract agreement

May 28, 2024

Today, the City of Minneapolis and the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis reached a tentative agreement for a 2023-2025 collective bargaining agreement.

The three-year agreement comes after eight months of negotiation, which included five public negotiation sessions and multiple mediation sessions with the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services.

“This is good news for the Minneapolis community safety system and the residents and visitors who rely on it,” said Mayor Jacob Frey. “This agreement will advance critical reform work and make significant progress on competitive pay for Minneapolis officers and recruits.”

Further details of the tentative agreement will be shared publicly once union members vote to approve the contract. The contract will then go to the City Council for approval.
